Our Story

   On January 17th, 2005, we received test results back that confirmed our fears that our daughter Elizabeth, who was born on November 1st, 2004, had Cystic Fibrosis.  Less than six months before that, we had started this web business not knowing how important it would become to our family and our daily lives.  Krista, my wife, couldn't return to work as a Dental Hygienist because of the germs she would bring home and also because of the nearly constant care that Elizabeth required from that day forward.
   Today we are unashamedly asking you to help us.  How?  The easiest way you can help is to tell others about our website.  If it weren't for us selling filters the medical bills and loss of income from Krista not working would be unbearable.  It's enabled us to survive during this chapter in our lives.  
   Another way you can help is to donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  The CF foundation is constantly working to find a cure for CF.  It is our prayer that with the CF foundation will someday find a cure for CF and hopefully they will do so within Elizabeth's lifetime.  You can donate here.

Update - June 21, 2007:

A lot has changed since the first note above.  In 2006 Elizabeth spent 17 weeks in the hospital.  The visits were on and off for 1 to 4 week intervals and 16 of the 17 weeks were all between January and June.  It was an exhausting year.  Since June '06 she has only spent one week in the hospital and it was for a semi-voluntary feeding/behavior modification trial.  At the time, she didn't (wouldn't) take any food by mouth and would throw up most of what was given to her through her tube (in her stomach).  About two months after the visit she just stopped throwing up one day.  About 2-3 weeks later, she started eating on her own.  She still get's a booster feeding through the night, but she now eats like a picky toddler.

Update - May 10, 2010

Wow. What a difference time brings. Elizabeth is now five and excited about her birthday even though it's still six months away. In her first three years, Elizabeth was in the hospital for 26 weeks. Since then, she hasn't been back! A lot of that is because of new drugs that the CF foundation helped fund, with the main one being Tobi, which is an inhaled antibiotic. She's on that twice a day for a month every other month.  So far, she hasn't even had the hint of an infection (which is what causes the permanent lung damage). She also just started a new enzyme (helps with digestion) that's helped her gain 3 lbs in a month (which is more than she's ever gained in even a three month period!). Thank you to all of our customers who send words of encouragement.  To this day we still get about 1-2 emails per month about Elizabeth and we do appreciate them!
